In this colloquium I shall show how the abstract models of one of the oldest quantum phenomena discovered by humankind - the magnetism (loadstones were known in 6th century BC) and their classical limits allow us to analyze variety of phenomena ranging from contemporary condensed matter physics to social phenomena and biology.
