Abstract:

In this talk, I will present my latest work on a recently proposed entanglement witness of non-classicality, whose validity is extremely important for testing the quantum nature of gravity. In short, the key idea behind the witness is that, if an object M can increase quantum entanglement between two systems Q1 and Q2, then M itself must possess non-classical features - specifically, it must have at least two incompatible variables. I will analyse the validity of this conclusion by considering a recent counterproposal to the witness. Interestingly, I will show how this counterproposal can be rebutted. In doing so, I will also discuss hybrid quantum-classical models from a theoretical point of view, mainly focusing on their internal consistency. Then I will discuss an algebraic approach to such hybrid systems, which will be used to give a new explanation of the witness of non-classicality.
