Ultracold Bose gases with dipolar interactions remain one of the most studied systems. During the last years, researchers have discovered plenty of new phenomena and new states of matter, for example, quantum droplets.
In my presentation, I would like to discuss the basic properties of ground states in this kind of system and suggest a new approach to differentiate self-bound- and free- gases in a quasi-1D toroidal trap.
The self-bound states I am interested in are bright solitons and quantum droplets. These states are usually under investigation with the help of simple approaches like Gross–Pitaevskii equation (GPE) or GPE extended with LHY term. Instead, I use the ab initio method - DMRG.
