We invite you to the next meeting of the Warsaw Quantum Computing Group, 27.04 at 18:00! This time, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we will have a virtual meeting with remote only access (we will send the details to the registered people later). The talk Quantum simulations of quantum gravity will be given by Dr Jakub Mielczarek. The number of seats is limited, so please register as soon as possible (no later than 26.04, EOD) using the form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf1WPmpRmDoAwbKkyXbmT42s2Pejt1R9QCKLuXex3TR_jutuQ/viewform. Abstract: This talk aims at emphasizing the potential of synergy between quantum gravity and the quantum computing technologies. Such a combination can be beneficial for both our understanding the Planck scale physics and the stimulation of development of quantum technologies. This is especially important in the present early days of commercial quantum computers, when challenges originating from the basic research may catalyze the technological progress. Our attention will be focused on simulations of Planck scale systems with the use of existing and future quantum computers. During the seminar, I will present our first attempts in this direction, including the formulation of the problem in the language of quantum circuits as well as a proposal of solving gravitational Hamiltonian constraint with the use of quantum algorithms. Results of our simulations performed on the 5 and 15 qubit IBM superconducting quantum computers will be shown. Bio: Dr Jakub Mielczarek - Assistant professor at the Institute of Theoretical Physics at the Jagiellonian University. He is leading Quantum Cosmos Lab (www.quantumcosmos.org) - an interdisciplinary research team exploring physics at the interface between quantum mechanics and the theory of gravity. He is the author and co-author of over 50 research articles. More Info at: www.jakubmielczarek.com. You can find the details on the event's website: https://www.facebook.com/events/662962631201226. Last but not least, we are going to record the meeting and make the video available later on our YouTube channel (you see find there a recording from our previous event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Heo2Gbliw9I).
