I will discuss the issue of solitons in a dipolar Bose gas with strong contact interactions and in Bose-Bose mixtures. In order to do this, the focus will be put on an extension of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation (GPE) called Lieb-Liniger GPE. Most importantly, I will address two major questions: whether or not dark solitons exist in such gases and if they can coexist with quantum droplets.
