I have been working at the Center for Theoretical Physics as a Professor for over 40 years.

The area of my research covers a wide range of topics in theoretical physics. The majority of my publications deal with various aspects of quantum electrodynamics, relativistic quantum mechanics, and also with some uncommon features of quantum theory like, for example, photon wave function, vortex lines and knots in wave functions, or thermal fluctuations of geometry. All my publications can be found on my homepage: www.cft.edu.pl~birula.

Two of my recent publications were co-authored by undergraduate students who came to CFT from the Department of Physics as interns. One publication dealt with the Heisenberg uncertainty relation for relativistic particles (Phys. Rev. A 103, 052211 (2021), co-author Adam Prystupiuk) and the second dealt with the phenomenon of backflow (J. Phys. A 55, 255702 (2022), co-author Szymon Augustynowicz).
