The local Universe, our Cosmic Home, is the best observed region of the Universe. In this environment, we can study structure formation on both large and small scales, i.e. from the galaxy clusters down to the low-mass dwarf galaxies. The main goal of the study of galaxies and large-scale structure formation is to achieve a physical understanding of how the observed structures formed out of cosmological initial conditions. Numerical simulations have been the driving force behind much of the theoretical progress in this field. However, numerical simulations have their drawbacks: any given simulation struggles between having the desired spatial resolution and representing the desired representative volume. This international workshop focuses on the study of our Cosmic Home via the use of so called constrained simulations. These are designed to reproduce the local Universe in order to study these structures and make detailed comparisons with observations, on a one-to-one basis, free of cosmic variance biases. Our workshop will gather researchers from international groups from Poland, France, Germany, Spain, Finland, and the UK (among others) that work on this topic and will offer a highly creative environment for exchanging ideas and discussing cutting-edge research.
