Open call for two R2 Researcher positions: Postdoc / Adiunkt (f/m/x), EUCENTRAL project (MSz/11/2026)

Postdoc/Adjunct – R2 Researcher (m/f/x)

Center for Theoretical Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences

About us

The Center for Theoretical Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CFT PAS) is a research institute dedicated to theoretical physics. It was established in 1980 and is based in Warsaw.

CFT PAS conducts research in various fields of physics, including quantum information, cosmology and gravity, semiconductors, and atomic gases. The Institute’s strategy is to recruit outstanding scientists and give them freedom to pursue their research. This has led to a strong international position, publications in journals such as Nature and Science, numerous grants (around 30 projects), and participation in international collaborations. In terms of citations per researcher, CFT PAS is among the top physics institutions in Poland.

The Institute also organizes scientific events such as seminars, workshops, and conferences open to the public, and produces educational content available on its YouTube channel.

About the position

We are looking for two postdocs (f/m/x) to join the Modelling Center for Quantum Technologies group at CFT PAS, led by Dr. Federico Balducci. The group will closely collaborate with Prof. Marzena Szymańska (ERA Chair Holder) from University College London.

Main responsibilities include

  • carrying out original research on many-body open quantum systems, by developing both theoretical and computational tools;
  • disseminating results by writing manuscripts and attending international conferences;
  • maintaining the developed open-access code libraries.

Questions regarding the position may be directed to Dr. Federico Balducci: fbalducci@pks.mpg.de
