About us
The Center for Theoretical Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CFT PAN) is a research institute engaged in a wide range of physics research, including quantum information, space and gravity, semiconductors, and atomic gases. The institute’s strategy is to employ top scientists and give them research freedom. As a result, CFT PAN holds a strong position in Poland, publishes world-class papers (Nature, Science), manages numerous grants (approx. 30 projects), and participates in international consortia.
CFT PAN also organizes a variety of scientific events, including seminars, workshops, and open conferences, and produces educational materials available on the institute’s YouTube channel.
About the position
We are looking for a person to join the newly created Quantum-Assisted Computing Center (within CFT PAN) — the first research unit in Poland dedicated to applying quantum effects in computations.
Main responsibilities include:
- Identifying key intellectual property and preparing patent protection strategy analyses.
- Co-creating legal regulations and securing intellectual property of the Center.
- Facilitating and supporting relationships with industrial partners, presenting quantum technology opportunities.
- Monitoring and evaluating scientific results for commercialization.
- Studying market needs and guiding research teams in quantum computing, photon-assisted AI, and certification.
- Analyzing patent landscape in quantum computing and related fields.
- Preparing draft patent applications in English.
- Preparing and verifying patent claims with project personnel.
- Cooperating with patent attorneys.
- Supporting development of innovation competencies through training.
- Supporting knowledge transfer and representing the Center in business and patent office contacts.
- Organizing meetings between scientists and technology brokers.
- Preparing project-related reports.
- Assisting in grant applications.

Candidate profile
Required:
- At least one year of experience in an independent role related to IP management and commercialization of R&D results.
- Excellent practical knowledge of commercialization and IP management regulations.
- Master’s degree.
- Communicative and open to contact with people.
- Very good English (written and spoken) for professional documentation.
- Reliability and strong organizational skills.
- Independence and positive attitude.
- Total involvement in all EU-funded and other projects ≤ 276 hours/month.
Nice to have:
- Experience in industry or IP protection.
- Knowledge of quantum technologies and Polish, European, and global markets.
- Experience collaborating with scientists.
- Knowledge of project financing (EU, national, or other funds).
- Experience with research institutions.
We offer
- Full-time employment on a 3-month probationary contract, followed by a fixed-term contract until 31 Dec 2029.
- Salary 18,500–20,500 PLN gross per month for full-time, proportional for part-time.
