About Us
The Center for Theoretical Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CFT PAS) is a research institute focusing on theoretical physics. CFT PAS was established in 1980 and is located in Warsaw.
CFT PAS conducts research in various fields of physics, including quantum information, space and gravitation studies, semiconductors, and atomic gases. The Institute’s strategy is to employ top scientists and give them freedom in research. This results in CFT PAS having a high position in Poland, publications at the world-class level (Nature and Science), a large number of grants (approx. 30 projects), and participation in international consortia. In terms of citations per employee, CFT PAS ranks among the top in Polish physics.
CFT PAS also organizes scientific events, including seminars, workshops, and open conferences, and creates educational materials shared on the Institute’s YouTube channel.
About the Position
We are looking for a scholarship holder within the project Real-world statistics of ultracold gases and their consequences funded by NCN (agreement number: UMO-2024/53/B/ST2/02161).

The selected candidate will join the Ultracold Atoms group at CFT PAS, led by Dr. hab. Krzysztof Pawłowski.
Main responsibilities will include software development using Monte Carlo methods.
The position is available from October 15, 2025, and is funded by NCN for a period of 5 months.

Required Qualifications, Experience, and Knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of statistical mechanics, including the so-called 4th statistical ensemble
- Experience with numerical Monte Carlo methods

- Programming skills
- High level of independence in performing tasks
