Source of financing
Center for Quantum-Enabled Computing / Centrum Obliczeń Wspomaganych Kwantowo (FENG.02.01-IP.05-M032/25). The project is carried out within the International Research Agendas programme of the Foundation for Polish Science co-financed by the European Union under the European Funds for Smart Economy 2021–2027 (FENG).
About the project and us
The Center for Quantum-Enabled Computing project’s overarching objective is to address key challenges in computing by paving the way to a verifiable, energy-efficient, reliable, and scalable computational advantage based on quantum systems.
Project website: http://c4qec.cft.edu.pl
Successful candidates will join the Quantum Information and Certification Group led by prof. Remigiusz Augusiak. The research focuses on two main directions:
(i) Characterization of quantum correlations, such as entanglement and Bell nonlocality, which are fundamental resources in quantum information theory and are used e.g. in quantum key distribution protocols.
(ii) Development of tools for certification and validation of quantum devices, verifying whether they operate according to specification and genuinely exploit quantum effects. A central question is whether a device performs intended quantum operations on a given quantum state. The device-independent approach, where no assumptions are made about internal device structure, is of particular importance, with Bell nonlocality playing a key role.
The Center is part of the Center for Theoretical Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CFT PAS), a research institute covering quantum information, cosmology and gravitation, semiconductors, and atomic gases. The Institute employs leading scientists and provides research freedom, resulting in world-class publications (Nature, Science), over 30 projects, and international collaborations.
CFT PAS also hosts seminars, workshops, and conferences open to the public and produces educational content on its official YouTube channel.
About the role
We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher who will join the newly established Center for Quantum-Enabled Computing within CFT PAS — the first scientific unit in Poland dedicated to applying quantum effects in computing.
Responsibilities include:
- implementation of research tasks defined in the project proposal and additional tasks assigned by the project leader using analytical and numerical methods;
- co-supervision of PhD and undergraduate students employed in the project;
- dissemination of results, including publications and conference presentations;
- participation in scientific life of the institute (CTP PAS Colloquium and C4QEC seminar).
