About the project and us

The main goal of the Center for Quantum-Enabled Computing is to tackle key challenges in quantum computing and achieve verifiable, energy-efficient, reliable, and scalable quantum advantage.

The Center for Theoretical Physics PAS conducts research in various fields, including quantum information, space and gravity, semiconductors, and atomic gases. The Institute employs top scientists and gives them freedom in research. This has resulted in high standing in Poland, publications in Nature and Science, ~30 research projects, and participation in international consortia.

CTP PAS organizes seminars, workshops, conferences, and produces educational materials on YouTube.

About the role

We are looking for a Group Leader for Neutral Atom Applications in the newly established Center for Quantum-Enabled Computing. The group will combine theoretical research with potential applications, including:

  • developing quantum error resilience strategies and error correction/mitigation,
  • designing multi-body gates and feed-forward control protocols,
  • developing hybrid quantum computing architectures (analog-digital),
  • optimization of quantum simulation protocols and experimental implementation with the University of Stuttgart.

Responsibilities also include:

  • developing research agenda and leading the group,
  • conducting world-class research, publishing in top journals,
  • applying for funding from NCN and ERC.

About the candidate

  • PhD in physics or related field, obtained by the application deadline,
  • Fluent English; Polish welcome,
  • Significant scientific record with publications and conference invitations,
  • Experience in leading research teams or leadership potential,
  • Experience in research projects (PI or Co-Investigator),
  • Openness to internal and international collaboration,
  • Experience in commercialization or industry collaboration is a plus,
  • Experience mentoring students/PhDs is an additional asset.

The position involves full-time employment at C4QEC (can be reduced to 50% for ERC grant holders) and transfer of projects to C4QEC, max. 276 hours/month.

  • Salary: 20,750–24,250 PLN gross/month (approx. 16,300–18,500 PLN net/month), including service allowance, may include bonuses,
