Girls to Science

On 30th of March, at the Faculty of Physics of the N. Copernicus University in Toruń the event “Girls to  Science” was organized. Participants had opportunity to meet with scientists, and with prof. Agnieszka Janiuk they talked about prospective careers in science and about high energy astrophysics. After the meeting, Agnieszka Janiuk gave a seminar about black hole accretion in gamma ray bursts, within the Thursday Colloquium of the Physics Faculty.

5th Athena Consortium meeting

On March 21-24, the X-IFU Consortium organized its 5th meeting, which was hosted at IRAP in Toulouse, France. Agnieszka Janiuk participated in the activities of the Athena Science Advisory Team and also in the plenary sessions. In the latter, she gave a presentation on the Polish technological contribution to the construction of the new instrument.

Mikołaj’s PhD track opened

On the meeting of Scientific Council at our Institute, which was held on March 17, Mr Mikołaj Grzędzielski has successfully opened his formal PhD track. The subject of his thesis is “Modeling of thermal oscillations of accretion disks in black hole systems”, and the work will be completed under supervision of prof. Agnieszka Janiuk.
