Visit in Prague

On November 14-18, Agnieszka Janiuk and Mikołaj Grzędzielski visited Astronomical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague. The collaboration in the field of accretion theory is now ongoing with dr Petra Sukova and prof. Vladimir Karas from that institute. On Nov 15, Mikołaj also gave a seminar in the Prague institute, about “Modified viscosity in accretion disks”.

N. Copernicus University award

Agnieszka Janiuk received a team award of III rank, given for the research achievements in the year 2015, and awarded by the Rector of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun. The prize honored the research which was conducted in collaboration with the team of dr Magdalena Kunert-Bajraszewska.

Black holes in Kathmandu

The Sixth black hole conference was held in Kathmandu, Nepal, on 16-21 October.  In the meeting entitled “Shining from the heart of darkness” participated over 100 scientists from all over the world. Agnieszka Janiuk presented there a talk on the “Black hole accretion in gamma ray bursts”. The website of the conference is here.
